How to Be the Creator of Your Own Tranquility

How would you like to be the creator of your own tranquility?

We all dream about having tranquility at least at some point in our lives. No matter how energetic you may be, at least one day of tranquility is just what you need to charge those batteries again.

We all have to face challenges on a daily basis. We have to cope with chaotic traffic on the way to work. We have to meet various deadlines and sometimes it feels like there are just not enough hours in the day.

As if that is not enough, people don’t feel safe anymore. The world is full of crime and violence. In March 2016, this article was published where the FBI warned against vehicle hacking risks.

How should we cope with all of this? How can we long for a life of peace and tranquility while this is happening all around us?

Well, becoming the creator of your own tranquility is a decision away. It starts by becoming proactive instead of reactive.

Prevention Is Better Than Cure.

The good news is; there is no need to become paranoid. It starts with us; with our thinking and our levels of alertness.

Without living in fear, we just need to become more alert and prepared. We just need to take note of what is going on around us.

Become aware of what is happening around you. Realize that it’s foolish to think “it will never happen to me”. It can happen to you. But you can do something to prevent it from happening to you. You can at least increase the odds of something happening by taking precautions.

Take note of activities happening around you that seems suspicious or out of the ordinary. While driving, lock the doors of your vehicle. Install a decent security system at your house.

Do I say that this will guarantee that nothing will ever happen to you? Not at all, but at least you will have a chance of not being caught by surprise. It will give you time to respond and avoid unwanted confrontations.

At the Work Place

When you are working on multiple projects at work, do proper planning and then work your plan. Stick to your schedule and don’t allow anything or anybody to interfere with your schedule.

Don’t wait until the deadline is two days away before you start working on that project that will take you two (maybe three days) to complete. Rather start working earlier on a project to allow some buffer time.

I know it’s very tempting, but try to avoid multitasking (or at least avoid multitasking where your brain is involved).

The same goes when you need to attend a meeting or need to be somewhere at a specific time. If you know it is a 30-minute drive under normal circumstances, rather allow 45 minutes for the journey to allow for delays. Rather be there 15 minutes early and relax than to always push everything to the limit. You’ll be much more relaxed and you’ll reserve your energy for when it is really needed.

Be Kind to Yourself

What is your normal response when someone greets you and they ask you how you are doing?  The first response is normally to say that we are fine, and then we often follow up with how busy we are and our hectic schedule. So, are you really fine?

You might be telling others that you are fine, but what are you telling yourself when you are alone. Start paying attention to your self-talk. If you find something overwhelming, why is it overwhelming and what can you do to make it better? If need be, even discuss it with someone else to find the solution.

Don’t destroy yourself in an attempt to please other people. Don’t be a people pleaser, be a God pleaser. There is nothing wrong with taking care of yourself and to love yourself. Luke 10:27 (NIV) says “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’[a]; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b]

Take note, it doesn’t say ‘love your neighbor and hate yourself’. It says ‘love your neighbor as yourself.

Don’t Live In Defeat.

It is only when you say so that you have failed or that you have been defeated. There is a saying that says ‘it doesn’t matter how many times you fall down, what matters is how many times you get up’.

Nobody likes the idea, but challenges will come and we will face trouble (John 16:33). Nobody can deny that. But we can read the good news in the same text. 33 I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Jesus has overcome the world, and through Him, we are conquerors (Romans 8:37). So You Can Stop Living in Defeat.

By meditating and equipping yourself with the Word of God, you are taking the best precaution any man can take. We can enjoy divine protection, healing, and guidance. But it will not happen by itself. You cannot enjoy and fully understand the benefits of your salvation if you don’t read and study the Word of God.

Take Control and Become the Creator of Your Own Tranquility.tranquility

You no longer need to be intimated by the chaos in the world around you. You don’t need to live in fear. Some time ago I wrote a guest post on Empowerment Moments Blog about How to Take Control of Your Life. In this article, you will see how you can eliminate uncertainty in your life. Learn how to realize what you can control and what you can’t. Know the difference, and then take control of that which you can control.

I have a motto that I try to live by. When something upsets me, frustrates me or when I find something disturbing, I think about what I can do to change the situation or at least improve it. If there is anything I can possibly do, then I should do it. If there is absolutely nothing I can do (or if I realize my response will only make matters worse), turn around and walk away from it.

Carry on with life and let go of what is holding you back. Make peace with what you have; do the best you can with it and let go of what you have no control over. It will only eat you up from the inside if you don’t.

Over To You.

Do you feel as if life is spinning out of control? Is the pressure too much? Are you experiencing the pressure of one demand after the other? Everybody is expecting to get all of your attention, and they want it now. You feel as if you just can’t cope anymore. Is that you?

Or are you in control. You know your own true identity. You are not intimidated by anyone or anything. You face your challenges, yes, but you overcome them by faith; one step at a time.

Share with us how you are experiencing life at the moment. I’m looking forward to hearing from you.
